Apprentice catch up: Meet Alex!

Alex is 28 years old and joined RE:GEN Solutions as an apprentice back in June. Read on to find our more about his journey so far with the team …

Tell us a bit about you, what did you do before joining RE:GEN Solutions?

I used to work at Nissan, which I enjoyed while I was there but I knew I wanted a change from manufacturing. This role is very different from what I was doing before but I’m learning loads and really enjoying it.

What sort of projects have you been working on?

Because I’m only on my Category B training, I’m only qualified to work on non-licensed asbestos projects but I’ve already done a good variety of work including loft cleans, soffit removals, under cloaks removals, ceiling removals, floor tile removals and scrapes.

I’ve travelled around Middlesbrough, Durham and Sunderland for work so far – it’s been great working with different people and getting to know the team more.

What are you looking forward to in the next six months?

The classroom element of the apprenticeship starts soon which will be good where I’ll work towards my Level 2 in Removal and Disposal of Hazardous Waste. I’ve also started an NVQ Level 2 in Cold Loft Insultation which has just been classroom learning so far, but we should be starting some on site training soon which I’m looking forward to.

Great progress so far from Alex – watch this space for more updates!
